Thrive Madagascar is run by your generosity – gifts of money, time, resources and skills. We have been blessed by so many wonderful volunteers who have brought an amazing range of skills.

From doctors and dentists to electricians and teachers, from graphic artists and bankers to high school students – all are giving us so much! We also have generous volunteers here in Australia, including our web design and branding expert.

Here are some comments from our volunteers:

‘The best trip of my life. To be able to help so many people – we don’t get to do that in our everyday lives.’

‘You get back more than you give. We go through our lives taking, and this is a chance to give back in spades!’

‘Very rewarding. Be prepared for poverty, and much enjoyment.’

‘The young women we taught about worth, strength and purpose were so eager to learn. They came up to us after and asked for more sessions.’

‘I understand more about Madagascar’s poverty, and how Thrive is making a difference.’

‘Getting to know the staff personally was really satisfying. I want to continue these relationships and bring more of the skills they are so enthusiastic about learning.’

‘I was worried about missing the creature comforts of home, but I was pleasantly surprised about how well Thrive looked after us with transport, accommodation, food, and vital local information.’

‘The first trip changed my life deeply – where else do you get this chance to live and work with local people in such a worthwhile way? The second trip consolidated my commitment – I plan to go every year now.’

You may be wondering if your skills are suited to Thrive and Madagascar. Rest assured – we are a personal, hands-on charity that welcomes everyone. Whatever skills you have, we value them and will design a program that allows you to use them in a meaningful way.

At the moment, we are especially looking for construction workers to assist with our Soav Multi Function Centre, particularly carpenters and plumbers. Our staff keenly want to improve their English and IT skills, so these are high on our wish list. Anyone who speaks English can be put to good use! Health workers will also be of great assistance to further the community health programs run by our two fabulous Drs Shannon and Brendan Petersen.

Give, and you will receive back more than you expected!

End of Financial Year donations are warmly welcomed!
All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
